# Structure docs that scale

> Learn how to build documentation that stays useful as your product and team grow.

Most documentation problems are structural. You don't fix them by having better prose or nicer screenshots. You need to structure content around user goals and tasks.

A ten-page site is easy to scan even if you don't know what you're looking for. At fifty pages, it gets harder . At a hundred, readers who can't find an answer quickly may open a support ticket or just leave.

This course covers the decisions that determine whether your docs hold up over time. Who you're writing for, what type of content each page should be, how to design navigation around user goals rather than product features, and how to keep everything accurate as things change.

Each lesson is for teams using Mintlify. You'll also see ways to guide AI writing tools, because clear structure helps those tools produce better work.

## What you'll learn

* How to define your audience clearly enough to use as context for AI writing tools
* How to categorize content by type, and why mixing types makes docs harder to navigate
* How to structure individual pages for scanning and successful task completion
* How to design navigation that reflects what users are trying to accomplish
* How to use behavior and feedback to find structural problems
* How to keep documentation accurate at scale, with automation doing most of the heavy lifting

## Who this is for

Developers, technical writers, and product teams who own documentation at a company using Mintlify. You don't need a writing background. You just need to care about creating documentation that works for your users.

4. [Design navigation for your users (not your product)](/courses/structure-docs/navigation-design) — How to organize content around what users are trying to accomplish, and how to use Mintlify's navigation primitives correctly.
5. [Measure and improve findability](/courses/structure-docs/measure-and-improve) — How to use search, analytics, support questions, and task testing to find structural problems.
6. [Keep docs accurate as your product grows](/courses/structure-docs/keeping-docs-current) — A maintenance process that uses automation to prevent docs from going stale.
